The MOOSE!

So here is the story everyone is talking about... OK, maybe it is just us...

One Sunday afternoon, we were sitting there just finishing our dinner when we realized our phones were still on silent from being in church all morning. So we went to turn them back on. Did we have the most beautiful voicemail or what! Benjamin's parents Terry and Cathy informed us that just down the road from where they live (right outside Ucon) there was a moose in a neighbor's backyard. Terry works for the Idaho Department of Fish and Game so he knew the details. They were on their way to pick him up and move him to a wildlife management area. We were invited to come!

We hurried and got in the car. Eventually they came and started getting the gun ready. Laura had borrowed a camera from Zack(Benjamin's little brother) and Laura was frantically taking pictures of EVERYTHING! They shot the moose with an immobilizer drug. He was awake and aware of what was going on but could not walk or move around. They rolled him onto a tarp and put the tarp on a sled. A bunch of men from the area came out to help inculding Laura's chiropractor and the guy that bred our rats(in Idaho everyone knows everyone...). They loaded the moose up on the trailer and everyone got to take a few pictures. (The whole time Laura has been taking pictures and petting him.) Then they gave him the antedote, let him get his feet under him(did we mention both of these drugs took up to three minutes? That's it!) and drove away.
